Load planning

With the XPS client, you can plan and sequence the outbound containers from the yard to the vessel.

Before you start load planning, make sure you do the following:

The exact process of load planning that you use depends on your site's operation. Typically, however, it involves the following tasks:

  1. Selecting, sequencing, and placing containers (on page 1) from the yard to the vessel

For grounded operations, make sure to sequence the containers from the yard through yard views to minimize yard shuffles (sometimes called digs or set asides). For chassis operations, however, you can work directly from the load list because you can access containers without creating rehandles.

If available at your site, you can involve the following special features in the load planning process:

If your operation uses predefined work patterns (PWP) (available if you have licensed the Quay Commander option), see the manual Navis N4: Vessel Administrator and User Guide. PWP affect how planned containers are sequenced to stowage positions on the vessel.

  1. Preventing changes to planned moves by locking them or confirming them. See more information in the N4/XPS Basics Manual available on the Kaleris Community Portal.

  2. Reconciling the actual moves (on page 1) with your plans

  3. Completing the planned moves

  4. Printing and distributing load reports to yard personnel
